Xavier Samuel was born on December 10, 1983, in Hamilton, Victoria (Australia), and he's the son of Maree and Clifford Samuel.
He grew up in Adelaide, South Australia and graduated from Rostrevor College in 2001. Despite completing his senior secundary years at Rostrevor College,
he undertook final year drama at Christian Brothers College under the tutelage of Amanda Portus. During the same year, he played the part of
Tom Snout (the wall) in Rostrevor College's production of William's Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream as well as playing the part of
Belbile in CBC's production of Aphra Behn's The Rover (The Banished Cavaliers). He attended Flinders University Drama Centre in 2005 where he studied
under renown acting teacher Professor Julie Holledge. He played Hamlet in the graduate production. Xavier Samuel made his debut on an
Australian TV show named "McLeod's Daughters" in 203. He aslso starred in the Australian horror movie, Road Kill, as Marcus.
Samuel has appeared in leading roles in the future films September and Newcastle, and in July 2009, was cast to play Riley Biers in
Eclipse, the third movie in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight franchise, beating actors Channing Tatum and Tom Felton for the role.
Samuel made theatre appearances in Osama the Hero, for which his performance was well-received by the Sydney Morning Herald.
